Verified ReviewerThey Are the worst credit providing company
I am writing this review to share my deeply frustrating and disappointing experience with both Vivint Smart Home and Fortiva Financial. These companies work together, and their primary goal seems to be extracting as much money as possible from consumers like myself, through legitimate means or fraudulent practices.
In January, I engaged with Vivint to purchase home security services. The sales representative assured me I could finance the equipment along with the monitoring service, with monthly payments not exceeding $85. However, crucial information was omitted during this conversation. I was initially informed about financing through Fortiva Financial and agreed to finance my equipment through them. There was no mention of any financing arrangement with Vivint themselves.
During the installation process, the technician made significant changes to the equipment without informing me of the financial implications. He also assured me there would be only one monthly payment to Vivint, covering both the equipment financing and monitoring service. Subsequently, I discovered that I was not only responsible for payments to Vivint but also to Fortiva, with whom I was unknowingly financing the additional equipment separately. This lack of transparency regarding the financing arrangements led to confusion and financial strain, resulting in late payments and a high credit utilization reported by Fortiva.
Furthermore, I later discovered a contract had been created for financing with Vivint, unbeknownst to me. I never applied for nor consented to any financing arrangement with Vivint. The technician's actions in opening a contract with Vivint without my knowledge or consent are highly unethical and potentially illegal.
I explicitly expressed my budget constraints to the technician, informing him that I could only afford a monthly payment of $85. However, he disregarded my concerns and created a financial burden that I cannot sustain. This has resulted in severe consequences for my financial stability, including a significant drop in my credit score from 720 to 521.
Additionally, I contacted Fortiva and informed them of the changes made to the original contract without my consent. I requested that Fortiva void the entire contract and remove it from my credit profile, as the changes were made fraudulently. Despite my efforts, it has been nearly three months, and Fortiva has yet to report this as fraud. They continue to provide damaging information to my credit profile, despite knowing that the original contract was fraudulently altered by Vivint.
Vivint and Fortiva are clearly operating in tandem to exploit consumers, using deceptive sales practices and failing to provide accurate information. Their actions have caused significant financial harm and stress, and they show no willingness to rectify the situation. I urge anyone considering doing business with Vivint or Fortiva to be extremely cautious and thoroughly investigate their practices. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same fate.

Verified ReviewerNew Annual Fee and Phone Number that doesnt work. y
I recently received an email that Fortiva will begin charging an annual fee of $79. Because it's a card I do not frequently use, I tried calling the number to close the account.
However, it said that it is not a working number.
It seems as though they purposely have their phone lines down so that they are able to impose the annual fee. Of course, the AI chat only provides the same non-working number.
Preferred solution: Someone to actually cancel my account.
User's recommendation: Abandon Ship!

Verified ReviewerThey did not abide to our contract
I took out $3000 for dental work with Fortiva and was told that I would pay $145. They didn't give me my due date and said they would notify me.
I never heard from them, so on June 16th, I paid $149 and managed to find my account to see that it was due on the 11th. They said I was $378 past due. When I called them, they ended up removing the late fee but still applied interest, which took me over $3000, and now I have to pay $229. It was their fault that I was late so I should still only pay $149 a month.
They said because I spent the $3000, the interest made it over $3000, so now my payment is $229. That was not in my agreement that I signed.
This has to be illegal. They said it had nothing to do with me being late, which is confusing.
- Easy attainable loan
- Dont follow the agreement
- Will scam you out of money
- Customer service is no help
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: They will do anything to make you pay more. Dont bother with them if you can help it.

Fortiva Fraud department doesn't stand by you in case of Fraud activity. Very poorly with how they handle your dispute.

The merchant never showed any proof of me giving consent and Fortiva still charged me for it, they don't have care in the world. Stay away from this company you've been warned.

Verified Reviewer | Campbellsville, KentuckyNo Annual Fee is a Lie
I've had a Fortiva credit card for about a year and a half now. They advertised 'No Annual Fee'.
I've charged around $1,100 in the past and never been late and am paying this enormous interest rate of 32%+ now. I have a perfect record with my account. However, they sent me an email saying they're changing their terms and conditions. From now on they will be charging an 'Annual Maintenance Fee' of $60 per year, charged at $5/month whether you have a balance or not!
This is to begin in November 2023. When I called to ask why they were doing this to my account (because I had a perfect record of payments) they said they were doing it to ALL customers! They can disguise their new annual fee by calling it a 'maintenance fee' if they like, but it's basically an annual fee. How can you charge a maintenance fee when the account has a zero balance?
Maintenance to do what? Nothing! I don't need this. I have other credit cards and I refuse to pay an annual fee to a bank that is already collecting an over 30% interest rate.
I called Fortiva credit card and had them cancel my account the day I received the email. Thank God I just recently paid my balance off. They also told me it would take until Nov. 30th to close my account and I called on October 9th.
Really? 7 weeks to close my account?? Ridiculous! Now, my credit score has just taken a hit.
How? (1) I've now closed an account and (2) I've lost $1500 available credit that added to my total credit availability when figuring my percentage of available credit vs credit debt. I am NOT happy with Fortiva for changing their terms of service. What if I had of ignored the email?
How sneaky of them to change everybody's credit card account by adding a fee when they advertised the card as No Annual Fee. Just down right dishonest. Goodbye Fortiva Bank.
I don't want to do business with you anymore. I do not recommend Fortiva Credit Card.

Actually they did not hurt your credit rating. You did by closing the account and losing that available credit.
So you think it's worth paying $60/year to avoid hurting your credit rating? I think not. They changed the terms of their advertised card.
For 17 cents a day for an unsecured card while you are rebuilding your credit? Yes I do.
I think if you initially applied for a card with a $60 annual fee, that is a different story. But to have a card with 'No' annual fee for over a year, close to 2 years, and for them to then start charging a $60 fee when you've never been late, is a poor way for a bank to do business.
Have you ever had this happen to you when you had a good record with the bank? I haven't. You sound like a Fortiva employee.
That must be it. Apparently you don't think this is an issue, but we'll have to agree to disagree.
